Big Joe Turner

The Boss of The Blues
During early years of R&B in the 1950s Big Joe Turner was one of the biggest hit makers . His "Chains Of Love", "Shake Rattle and Roll" , and numerous other hits kept him on the charts throughout the mid to late 1950s. This 1956 hit song was one of his best tunes . This song was an old Scottish folk song and was recorded originally in 1928 by the Mississippi-born guitarist and singer Bo Chatmon and later by Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys before Joe had a hit with it. It was recorded again in 1960 by Ray Peterson and became a hit once again.
Joe died on November 24, 1985 in Inglewood Ca. In 1987 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
