Frankie Laine 1913-2007
Another bit of Americana was lost Tuesday Feb 6th 2007 when the legendary singer Frankie Laine passed away. Frankie topped the charts many times throughout the 1950s and as late as 1969 with songs such as "Mule Train", "Humming Bird", "I believe", Jezebel", "High Noon", "You Gave Me A Mountain" and many many more chart toppers. Frankie was born "Francesco Paolo LoVecchio" in Chicago's "little Italy" neighborhood in 1913.
Frankie's first hit a ballad called "That's My Desire," became a No. 4 hit on the American charts in 1947. After that he just could not miss recording hit after hit throughout the 1950s.
Goodbye Frankie you will be sorely missed!!!
