Larry Finnegan (Born Johnny Lawrence Finnegan August 10th 1938 in New York, New York ) hit the top 20 on the music charts in The USA in 1962 with this great rockabilly tune called Dear One. Larry co-wrote this song with his brother Vinnie in 1961 and took his demo to Hy Weiss of Old Town Records where he was signed to a recording contract. The song reached number 11 early in 1962. In 1964 Larry recorded Dear One part 2 on RIC records but did not manage to chart with it. To listen to Dear One Part 2 click here.
Although Larry did not manage to hit again in the USA he became quite popular in Europe for a period of time in the early 1960's.
Sadly Larry died in South Bend Indiana in 1973 of a brain Tumor.
This is another one of those great oldies that we just do not hear enough on the oldies stations today but you can hear it here.
