Buster Brown was born on August 15, 1911 in Cordele, Georgia. His birth name was Wayman Glasco.
After playing local clubs and making several unsuccessful recordings he moved to New York in 1956. Bobby Robinson of Fire Records soon discovered him and in 1959 he recorded "Fannie Mae" and he managed to make the top 40 on the pop charts and number 1 on the R&B charts in April of 1960. Fannie Mae would be his only major hit record though he did make the R&B charts again with a song called "Sugar Babe".
Buster Brown passed away on January 31, 1976 in New York.
"Fannie Mae" was a great uptempo blues song and still sounds good today.
