Three Stars

Eddie Cochran had a string of rockabilly hits in the late 1950's. This particular song did not become a hit for Eddie but he felt compelled to record it after the death of his friends Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper in a February 1959 plane crash in Iowa. Eddie had a hard time keeping his composure during the recording of this tribute song as is obvious when you listen to his touching rendition of Three Stars.

Tragically just a little over a year later on April 17, 1960 Eddie Cochran himself was killed in an automobile accident outside London England on the way to the airport to return to the USA. He was returning from a tour with fellow rockabilly performer Gene Vincent.

In 1987, Eddie Cochran was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame his contribution to the genre has also been recognized by The Rockabilly Hall of Fame.
