Oh Julie

The Crescendos formed in 1957 while attending Cumberland High in Nashville. Nashville DJ Noel Ball discovered them and brought them to the Nasco Label where they recorded "Oh Julie" The song reached number 5 on the charts in March of 1958. It was their only hit. The group was together for only one year. During their short career they went on a package tour with The Everly Brothers, Brenda Lee, Sam Cooke and LaVern Baker. . The group consisted of George Lanuis, Tommy Fortner, Kenneth Brigham, Jimmy Hall, and Jim Lanuis (George's cousin)The female voice that really sold this record was Janice Green . The song was also recorded by an extremely popular R& B group of the 50's, Otis Williams and The Charms. To hear the "Charms" version click here.
